Over the past few days as I’ve put this blog post together, I’ve been thinking about what I would write and I’m just not sure my words will do this wedding justice! I was lucky enough to shoot Cory’s proposal to Kate, their engagement session and then their wedding! We were all so excited for this day to get here. Kate and I had girls nights leading up to the wedding and I loved hearing about their progress with plans and the ideas they had. They put so much work into every last detail and the whole day had their personality all over it. The wood of the centerpieces was from a tree Kate’s grandpa grew. Cory’s ring was made from his uncles coin collection. The lace on Kate’s flowers was from her moms wedding dress. Cory’s great grandmothers ring was in Kate’s flowers. Kate wore the earrings her sister wore for her wedding…and this is just to name a few!! This part blows my mind…they also made their own centerpieces, menu cards, place cards, and all of the signs and programs. Kate is detail oriented just like me so I can completely appreciate that about her! Along the way, they also updated Instagram when wedding projects were going on so I could always tell when something amazing was in the works!
The morning of the wedding both Cory and Kate got ready at the houses their parents rented which were across the street from each other. Both houses were also right near Heron Hill Winery, so everything was right there. The houses had so much character, so it made getting ready shots a blast to shoot. I knew that Kate would be a beautiful bride, but I was absolutely in awe of her beauty. I have SO MANY favorites from this wedding and some of my favorite shots I’ve ever taken! The Finger Lakes is such a gorgeous location for a wedding. Across from Heron Hill Winery was an open field overlooking the lake where we took bride and groom, bridal party, and family shots. As soon as I saw this spot, I was so excited to use it for pictures! We found a patch of yellow flowers which added a pretty pop of color to the photos. I loved the yellow flowers with the purple bridesmaid dresses.
Looking back on the day, I have so many favorite moments. Cory and Kate’s first look, Kate and her dad walking down the aisle, their vows, their first dance, and the parent dances. There was laughter, hysterical laughter, there were tears (many tears from behind the camera too!), and there was pure joy. The love that filled the whole day was so powerful. We had Cory and Kate over a few weeks ago for game night and snacks. Once our game of Cranium died down and the boys were in the other room watching classic WWF matches, Kate and I sat at the table and talked about the wedding. I couldn’t wait to hear all their favorite moments from the day and tell her ours! One thing Kate said was that when she went to her friends wedding a while back, she could feel the love that filled the day consume her. After her friends wedding, Kate hoped that she and other people would feel the same way at her own wedding. And that’s really the best way to describe it. This was a wedding day that I could relive over and over again. The emotion that I felt on the wedding day was brought back countless times while I was editing the images. Cory and Kate have a love that is outwardly evident. Both of their families are so much fun and such great people. Combine that and you have an incredible day full of excitement, laughter, and love. I have so many favorites to share from this day so enjoy!!!
See how gorgeous this house is!
